Jan has been on the College Eight staff for over 20 years, and has been an Academic Adviser for the past 12 years. Jan received her BA from UCSC in Environmental Studies. She completed her Senior Exit Requirement by taking “The Greening of Urbanism” seminar with Environmental Studies and College Eight Emeritus Professor, Jim Pepper. She works with the entire College Eight student population on a variety of academic issues, but her specific areas of expertise are advising students in academic difficulty, Education Abroad Program planning, Honors, and major selection.
When not advising, Jan enjoys taking walks on our beautiful UCSC campus, reading her favorite authors’ books (Alice Hoffman, Anne Tyler, Jasper Fforde, Jane Austen, Carl Hiaasen), and spending time with her family. Only recently, Jan has discovered that she is a “cat person” with the addition of a beautiful gray and white kitten named Chelsea to her household. |
