Joy has been part of the College Eight Student Life team at UC Santa Cruz for 5 years and is currently working as one of the Coordinators for Residential Education (CRE). Joy has her M.Ed. in Higher Education and Student Affairs Administration from the University of Vermont (UVM) and has previously worked in the field of Student Affairs at UC Santa Barbara and UVM in the areas of first-year student experience and transition, and the Office of the President with a focus on undergraduate education. Here at UC Santa Cruz, Joy enjoys working with students in areas of social justice and equality education, transition-to-college issues, and alcohol and other drug (AOD) education. Professionally, Joy is most interested in working with first-year college students, teaching for social justice, working with underprivileged women and girls, and exploring health education in the areas of wellness and public health. When Joy is not on a college campus, she can be found in the yoga studio and in the outdoors - running, hiking, climbing, biking and snowboarding. She is currently pursuing a professional certification as a yoga instructor and hopes to someday teach yoga on campus to students, staff and faculty. |
