Ravi Rajan is Provost of College Eight. He oversees the academic programs of the college, which include the Core Course, other curricular and co-curricular offerings, and academic advising. He is also responsible for heading the College development effort; nurturing an enriching experience for the faculty; and, in partnership with CAO Welte, providing a rich and rewarding learning environment for students of College Eight. He also presides at ceremonial occasions.
Rajan earned a BA in Mathematics and MA in Philosophy at the University of Delhi, and a D Phil in Environmental History and Science and Technology Studies, at the University of Oxford. He also completed Postdoctoral Studies in Geography at the University of California, Berkeley, in Global Environmental Politics at Cornell University, and on Science, Technology, and the Global Environment, at the Max Planck Institut für Wissenschaftsgeschichte, Berlin. Rajan enjoys classical music and jazz, indoor rowing, and hiking. He is married to Priya Rao, a software engineer, and they have three children - one human and two feline. |
